One request, matched to the actual job

A pre-purchase inspection is not the same assignment as a tonnage measurement or commercial-code survey. We keep the scope clear from the beginning.

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Panamanian survey locations

Plan the survey around Panama’s two coasts and Canal corridor

Panama’s Pacific yacht centres, Caribbean yards and island locations are separate operating areas. Confirm the exact berth, yard permissions, lift capacity, Canal or coastal movement, sea-trial plan and whether the work is private or must follow a Panama Maritime Authority route.

Panama City & Pacific Canal entrance

Balboa · Amador · Flamenco · Panama City marinas

A principal yacht, brokerage and transit area. Confirm marina security, contractor access, lift or travel-lift arrangements and whether Canal scheduling affects vessel movement.

Colón & Caribbean Canal entrance

Colón · Shelter Bay · Cristóbal · Portobelo

Caribbean-side yards and Canal facilities form a separate assignment. Identify the controlled facility, access contact, haul-out booking and any movement from the Pacific.

Find a surveyor in this region

Bocas del Toro

Bocas Town · Almirante · island marinas and anchorages

Island access and smaller facilities can limit haul-out and specialist work. Confirm transport, accommodation and whether the vessel must move for an ashore inspection.

Western Pacific

Vista Mar · Punta Chame · Gulf of Chiriquí

Facilities are spread along the coast. Give the exact marina or yard, vessel dimensions and realistic sea-trial and haul-out location.

Remote Caribbean & eastern waters

Guna Yala · Darién approaches · remote anchorages

Remote locations require a separate travel and safety plan. A complete survey may depend on moving the vessel to a serviced marina or yard.

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What information is needed for a Panama marine survey quote?

Provide the coast, exact marina or yard, vessel particulars, construction, purpose and preferred date. Include haul-out, sea trial, Canal or coastal movement and any insurer, lender, Panama flag, classification or statutory requirement.

Can one surveyor cover both Panama coasts?

Potentially, but the Pacific and Caribbean are separate working areas even where the Canal shortens the map. Travel, controlled access and any vessel movement must be priced and agreed for the actual location.

Is a private pre-purchase survey valid for Panama flag certification?

Not automatically. The Panama Maritime Authority delegates defined statutory surveys and certification to authorised Recognized Organizations and operates flag-inspection controls. Confirm the exact certificate and authorised route before appointment.

Can a survey be arranged in Bocas del Toro or a remote anchorage?

Potentially, subject to surveyor travel, safe access, weather and a workable haul-out plan. Some assignments may require moving the vessel to a better-equipped facility.

Are Canal transit, haul-out and sea trial included?

Only when expressly included. Canal or coastal movement, agents, lines or crew, yard fees, lift, wash, relaunch, fuel, travel and specialist testing can be separate.

Who appoints the marine surveyor?

The client appoints the independent surveyor and agrees scope, fee, timing, limitations and terms directly. Panama Marine Survey provides information and introductions only.

Can you help with other specialist marine survey assignments?

Potential assignments include canal-transit condition surveys, pacific–caribbean delivery surveys, new-build, refit & repair supervision, engine diagnostics & oil analysis, ultrasound, moisture & corrosion, damage, grounding & casualty work, on-hire, off-hire & delivery surveys, panama flag & statutory surveys. Availability depends on the location, vessel and required specialist capability or formal appointment.
